Walsall vs Wigan

Walsall(華素爾,沃尔索尔) slumped to a fourth defeat in five matches on Saturday afternoon when they went down to a 2-0 loss away at Shrewsbury Town(梳士貝利,什鲁斯伯里), and the west midlands club now sit in 17th place in League One just five points above the bottom four.

Recent losses to Blackburn Rovers, Peterborough United, Rochdale(羅奇代爾,罗奇代尔) and Shrewsbury Town have seen Walsall steadily slide down the league table, and although they recorded a 3-0 win away at Southend United(修安聯,绍森德) in-between the losses, this has been a rare highlight in what has become an alarming slump in form.

The Saddlers have also lost their last two on the trot at their Banks’s Stadium amidst an overall record of  7-6-5  26/24 and they’ll be facing high-flying Wigan here on Wednesday night.

Onto Wigan Athletic then, and The Latics have the added incentive of leapfrogging Shrewsbury Town into second place by taking all three points here, as they hold a far superior goal difference to that of The Shrews with +18 goals in Wigan’s favour.

Wigan will need to quickly forget about their FA Cup exit to Premier league side, Southampton on Sunday as they head down to the west midlands with arguably the more important matter in hand, that of automatic promotion back up to the Championship.

Wigan are unbeaten in their last four in League One having registered wins over Rochdale and Bradford City as well as draws with league leaders, Blackburn Rovers, and fifth placed Scunthorpe United, while their away record stands at an impressive  11-2-3  36/14 which has placed them with being the highest goal scorers away from home in League One to date.
